The best place we have stayed in Morocco is a little riad on the city walls in Essaouira.

Just to be clear – We are not paid for this video, nor have we any rewards, be it financial or otherwise from The Riad Chems Bleu in Essaouira.

We are publishing this video as a help to tourists and the fabulous staff at the Chems – Sofiane, Latifa and Fatima, amongst others.

It’s a great place to stay, the staff will help you and nothing seems to be a problem for them, they really make your stay fabulous!

A few minutes walk from the centre of Essaouira, the port and the beach, but in a very quite little nook on the city wall. We love it here!

In fact The best place we have stayed in Morocco is just a two minute walk to the beach, the port and the bustling medina.

It is so quiet and peaceful that you can hardly hear a sound.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Morocco, often we go straight for a hotel, but the best stays we have had are in riads.

A Riad is a traditional Moroccan and Andalusian interior garden or courtyard associated with house and palace architecture.

Its origin is generally attributed to Persian gardens that spread during the Islamic period.

In Morocco it is a hotel or guesthouse-style accommodation with shared common areas and private rooms, often within a restored traditional mansion.

In the Chems Bleu the breakfast is both good and copious and the mint tea is delicious at all hours of the day!
